History about that place:
"Balmuri and Yedmuri " falls have been excellent picnic spots around Mysore/Mysuru. These are basically check dams constructed across river Cauvery(Kaveri) back water which flows from KRS Dam/ Brindavan Gardens.Main idea is to hold the water flow and assist farmers/ paddy fields around Cauvery basin. Whenever there is more water, Water will flow across this artificial Check Dam; this is around 6 feet taller.

As water flows across it creating artificial Water Falls over the rocks beneath. Since this is back water, There is less tides, which makes ideal spot for swimming, Adjacent to this there is Ganesh Temple, From there people can easily get into the water,
Added to all these, There are boats/Theppas,Riding on these theppas are more joyous and exciting experience.

Balmuri Falls is highly crowded as it's supported by stalls around for food, drinks and playing area around. Bala means "Right" in Kannada Muri stands for "Curve".

Yedmuri Falls is less crowded as it's not supported by stalls around for food, drinks and playing area around. Yeda means "Left" in Kannada Muri stands for "Curve". From Yedmuri, one can see KRS Dam to some extent.
